Looking for George Ellis born c. 1814 Dawley

Can anyone please help in my search for the aforementioned George Ellis. The 1841 census shows him as Dawley born, but I can find no records re his baptism. Someone told me that some of the parish records for Dawley were destroyed. Is this correct? If not can someone please suggest a starting place.

As you probably already know familysearch.org is the place to go for this stuff.
As for the records being destroyed, I think some were but very few so fingers crossed he wasn't in one of them 

Was an age given on the census you saw? or parents names to work from as there are a few from the 1810's and 1820's that might be possible.

Re Berry/Morris/Rivington connection. I am descended from William Berry born 1881 to William Berry born 1845 who was married to Ellen Morris in 1867. Ellen was the daughter of Obadiah Morris and Mary Taylor.
