Hi Janice M, Thank you for your reply.  My wifes grandfather was Daniel who went to America in1893 on his own and we don't know any more about him.  At least we know of his father (Arthur) and mother and his brothers and sisters in Scotland.  Thank you for your help with this.
We know John McKechnie was Arthurs father but we don't if he was born in Ireland, the same as Arthur.

      Cheers Joxer42

Co-incidently, my Mother lived at 243 Gallowgate in the 1930's.  She was the daughter of Charlotte Anderson McKechnie born 1908 Musselburgh, daughter of John McKechnie born 1875 Bartiebeith, son of John McKechnie born 1854 Paisley, although the latter I cannot trace (Sone of John McKechnie and Rose Ann Stewart).  Perhaps they are distant cousins.

I’m related to the John McKechnie born in Paisley in 1854, he was my great grandfather, his father was also John McKechnie who died in the Abbey Poor House in Paisley in 1861, my grandfather Hector McKechnie was the brother of the John McKechnie born in 1875 at Bartiebeth. Best regards.

Happy New Year Keckers!  Looks like you are my 2nd cousin.  I was  in Glasgow Xmas week and had a day at  the Mitchell Library. Still have to tidy up my notes and update but I have info on Agnes, not a lot on Hector and I couldn't find Archibald, so perhaps we could compare info.   Did you ever trace a birth cert for John McKechnie born 1854 (I couldn't).  Email me.....  (*)    Regards Margaret
