Yes, that's what I think too. JOHN DARBY b 17 july, 1835, bap: 30 june,1837, Barrow upon soar, son of William and Rose (nee Hainsworth) married MATILDA PLATTS  1854 in Rearsby, Leicestershire, England.

1861 census - they are resident in Stapenhill, Staffordshire, England

and 2 visitors.

The John Darby born to Thomas Darby and Mary Dennis was b circa 1828 and married Ann Chapman (b circa 1832) on  3 March 1851

Hi
Barrow Pr confirms John parents as William & Rose...... William a Frame Work Knitter.
There is also entry for John in 1837 but this also states parents as William & Rose. In the notes it states John was born 6 July 1835 and William was a FWK. William & Rose baptize 4 other children on that day 30 June 1837.

Hmm, consider this - did John Darby die before 1861-1871 or is the John Darby on 1861 John Eason  ???

Did Matilda shack up (DNM) with John Eason/Easom also similar occupation, age and birth village to John Darby  ???   ???

John Eason on 1851 is working on the railway, John Darby on 1851 is a FWK

Possible that John Eason's mother was a Darby.  Check for Emma Elizabeth Eason's marriage to William Pettitt.  Is that the Emma  Elizabeth Darby GRO birth 1862 Ashby??

See 1871 & 1881 for them in Burton on Trent.  There is a child, Ada, GRO for a Ada Darby born in Burton.  She marries as Ada Darby Eason in 1879 to  a John Randall White

There is a burial of a John Darby 22 May 1858, aged 22, Barrow.  No note as to his parents

Matilda Eason married again 18 Jan 1885 to William Eyden.  Bride's father John Platts. Witnesses William and Emma Pettitt.  Emma Elizabeth Darby Eason married William Pettitt 25 Dec 1875, St Paul Burton on Trent.  Bride's father John Darby Eason, Railway Guard

It is beginning to point to Matilda Platts marrying John the illegitimate son of Mary Darby, rather than John Darby son of William and Rose.  Mary Darby married John Eason in 1839.

Only Matilda's marriage certificate can confirm this.

The probate index for 1890 shows Matilda naming James Randall White, husband of Ada Darby Eason

Well spotted, I hadn't gone any further than the 1861 with that family. It just proves how taking time to develop the family's info can bring clues.
