Since last posting here, I have been adding snippets of information here and there,
and recently a RootsChatter provided me with more information about John Stevenson, Well-Sinker,
but ...
despite all our efforts, we still haven't found any more about Hessie Stevenson/Baxter
and..
I've just realised that some of the dates I've been working from may be wrong.
Many years ago I was given a transcription of the 1901 Scottish sentence with my Hessies...
(Stenson = Stevenson)
Coleman Warren Head 44? Ireland Metal Planer(?)
Coleman Hessie Wife 46 Ireland
Stenson Hessie Step Daur 22 Ireland Pickle Worker
Stenson Emily Step Daur 19 Ireland Rope Worker
Stenson John Stepson 14 Ireland Scholar
Coleman Annie Daughter 4 Govan, Scotland
Coleman William John Son 2 Govan, Scotland
Since then I have the census image, and some of the ages look very different.
In the 1911 census the ages are very clear to read:
Coleman Warren Head 54
Coleman Hessie Wife 48
Coleman Annie Daughter
610
* Govan, Scotland
Stevenson Emily Step Daur 22 Ireland Rope Worker
Emily married in 1911 and her age is given there as 23, which fits with the 1911 census age better,
but Hessie and Annies' ages seem way out.
How would you read the ages from the image ?
* Updated: I am having a bad day today
after saying how clear the 1911 census is, I then transcribed the wrong entry
