If someone had an address is East James St, Dublin, where do you think that is? There seem to be a lot of James st in Dublin.

Hi Kate,

There is only one James Street in Dublin City, on this very short street you will find Guinness Brewery, St James Hospital, { it used to be a part of the South Dublin Workhouse ].

Regards Catherine
I AM RESEARCHING THE SURNAMES BRAY CULLEN, FARRELL,KEOGH,SHERIDAN,SULLIVAN, all in the area of Dublin.

Hiya Kate,

There are three Jame's Streets in Dublin.

1. Jame's Street is  part of a long road which runs from Cornmarket to Grattan Crescent. It crosses the South Circular Road at Kilmainham. After Cornmarket it becomes Thomas Street, then near St Jame's Gate it becomes Jame's Street. The other changes in name are Mount Brown, Old Kilmainham and lastly Emmet Road.

2. Jame's Street, East which is the street you queried is on the same side of the Liffey to the Jame's Street mentioned above and which Catherine mentioned. It's near Merrion Square running parallel to Fitzwilliam Place East

3. Jame's Street, North is somewhere in the area between Connolly Station, Mountjoy Square and Croke Park.

East James street was originally a tenement street off Baggot Street, in Dublin 2. My father was born there. The tenements are long demolished.
