Birth Look Up

Hello, is there anyone who has access to 1837online.com or any other birth records apart from the free beta on Ancestry who could look up the April Qtr of 1860 for
IVORY - Laura or any other in Luton.

Ancestry for some reason doesnt show that qtr,

Hi sarah

You can view images at FreeBMD although long-winded.  I've just looked at Births for 1st & 2nd quarter of 1860 and Laura Ivory doesn't feature.

i cant understand this! i have a census record from 1861 of Mary and John Ivory who have a daughter 8months old and im sure it clearly says Laura


but yet i cant then find any trace of a Laura after that   

i was trying to attach that census data but i cant see how!

I've just looked at census image ande it is Laura Ivory age 8 months born Luton, with parents John Ivory & Mary. Also listed is Louisa Dimmock age 15 listed as sister, both most likely is the wife's sister, as they are born at same place (Kings Walden, Herts) 

On the IGI there are christenings at Luton for other Ivory children to parents John Ivory & Mary Ann Dimmock ---

Sarah Ann Ivory on 27 MAR 1868
John William Ivory on 01 OCT 1865
Christopher John Ivory on 18 JUL 1863

but Laura is not mentioned

The IGI also has the marriage of John Ivory to Mary Ann Dimmock on 22 FEB 1859 at  Luton, Bedford.

Other info suggests he was christened on 26 MAR 1837 at Kimpton, Hertford & he died on 29 JUL 1884 at Luton

yeh i dont know what happened with Laura! she doesnt appear to be there, i have detail of 5 other children, although john william is a new one! so thats helped, thanks!

is there any way on the IGI that you can search for just a surname etc! as it would be easier to look for Ivory births/deaths between certain dates without a firstname!?

Found a death index for Laura Ivory in Apr-June quarter 1867, Luton district vol 3b page 297

still no sign of birth - suggest you send off for death certicate, it might confirm age/year of birth

Re IGI - you can search for just a surname in a specified county, but without a Christian name you can't restrict the search by year. Which with even a relatively uncommon surname can still throw up too many results. IGI only covers baptisms/marriages, not burials.
