Where is Redmarley in 1891? Looking for Powells
« on: Tuesday 21 February 06 10:45 GMT (UK) »
I'm doing some research for an elderly friend ( as if my own wasn't taking over my life...  ;D ) and have hit a puzzle.

I'm looking for the following little family who, according to the births of the children, should definitely be in Redmarley in 1891. Problem is that, looking on Ancestry, I can find all sorts of towns in the district of Redmarley, (eg Dymock), but not Redmarley itself. Is it missing from the 1891?

In case anyone has any ideas, the people I'm looking for are -

Henry John Powell b abt 1865 Gloucester
Harriet Powell b abt 1869 Kempley, Glos
Frederick Powell b abt 1887 Redmarley
Ethel Powell b abt 1889 Redmarley
possibly Henry John b abt 1891 Redmarley

They aren't in the on-line transcription of some of Redmarley in Genuki

All help gratefully received  :)

Angela

Hi ricky1

Yes, that's the right place. It wanders over the county boundary with Worcestershire but the census information is there for all years apparently except 1891  ??? ??? ???

It still exists and is currently in gloucestershire

Lunch - now there's an idea  ;D

The family's there all right in 1901 and they're there (pre marriage) in 1881.

Driving me nuts it is.....

I'll go and get some food too - might help!
