Thirsk - Varley family
« on: Wednesday 29 September 04 13:59 BST (UK) »
Is anyone researching the Varley family in Thirsk ?  In the trade directories there are a few who are basket makers..... I am particularly interested in Richard Varley - basketmaker - who had two children George (1842) and Elizabeth (1843) - both were born in Hartlepool.  There mother was Elizabeth Kidson or Kitson.

I can't find a marriage or anything else ...... I wonder if this is the Richard Varley - basket maker from Thirsk ?

Hello Kathy,

We havent spoken before but four years ago you researched Joshua Varley - the infamous murderer of Thirsk.
Well Joshua Varley is my Great-great-great-great Grand-father.

I too had found the Broadmoor link and have just received further information from the Berkshire records office in Reading about the case when I saw your Rootschat information from way back in 2004.

Do contact me next time you are online and we can arrange to exchange details. I have a lot of informartion about the varleys past and present. it would be great to fnd out just how far you have managed to get

Regards
Robert

Hi VARLEY hunters -
In case my DBY/NTT families are related to you, please bear in mind my 2 county ONS on my website (see message footer). Let me know if we link in anywhere.

Also, the family name is very suggestive of a location. I have found one such place - there may be others. Please let me know if you have any information in this area. You can also contact me via my website.

Thanks and good luck,
Mark

hi Robert, I've just come across your posts, many years later!
I am researching the Ulleskelf/Thirsk Varleys for a friend who is descended from the infamous [and very troubled, it seems] Joshua's brother Richard.
Would you like to swap info?
Elaine
