no closer to finding John Douglas Montgomery - but I have found what looks like another son.

It is better to give a full transcription fo the parish register

Hi

It is easily done, but please do give us the transcription of the marriage so we can all see the details. A good find.

Obviously circa-1815 puts you at:

Was the brother also born in France?

Hi

Besides Louisa Elizabeth's marriage in Camberwell in 1839 there are two other marriages that give John Douglas Montgomery as the father.

George who married in St Peter Walworth in 1868 was a widower aged 38. He gave his father's occupation as (deceased) soldier. On the 1871 census in Newington he was born Newington and deaf for 31 years or deaf from the age of 31. It looks as if he might be adjusting his age down to be nearer his much younger wife's. His previous marriage might be to Eleanor Lamb in St Matthew Bethnal Green - father John but a bricklayer. He appears with wife Ellen on the 1851 and 1861 censuses in St George in the East aged 24 born Walworth and then in 1861 in Newington, born Newington aged 35

Maria Montgomery a minor married at St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey in 1845. Her father's occupation was a commissary. On the 1851 census in Newington Maria was aged 24 and born Newington. Maria was with her sister on the 1841 census.

St Mary, Newington 16th March 1845 born 10th May 1826
Maria Montgomery parents John Douglas and Louisa, Angle Court, father deceased

Burial
St Mary Newington 4th Febriary 1825
John Douglas Montgomery aged 45 years, West Lane
