Katy, I joined today just to talk to you.  Why?  If your ggg-grandfather was Abraham Lewis (b. 1815 in or near Blaenavon) we're cousins.

My gg-grandfather was Abraham's brother, William (b. 1822).

William and Abraham's father, William Lewis, was born in Llangyfelach in about 1784. William and Abraham also had a sister, Rebecca (b. 1814), who lived in Blaenavon with them.

William (b. 1822) married and immigrated to the States in 1854.  Rebecca stayed in Blaenavon and married Thomas Timothy (b. 1812).  I found some living descendants living in the Las Vegas area and we've been in touch, comparing notes.

Abraham's daughter Anne (b. 1845) married John Morgan (b. 1841).  I found some living descendants still in the Blaenavon area and we're also in touch, comparing notes.

All of us are on Facebook.  And we hava a great genealogy group for confirmed descendants of William Lewis (b. 1784) and wife Rebecca (b. 1784).

Hi Dave, thanks for contacting me. I guess we are cousins then  . No wonder I've never found anything for William if he emigrated.
I've got your message on Ancestry so I'll email you a word doc with what I have for the family. I'll have a look at Facebook too.
