Irish Family History Foundation have transcribed the Townland of Francis Carroll as "Dooros", Dooross is a Townland in Aghalurcher, in the Registration District of Lisnaskea. Bernard Carroll is described as a Labourer. Mother Mary Anne Lynch. Birth dated as 29 Jul 1879, registered on 4 Aug 1879. As his father was a labourer it's likely he may have moved around the area as work was available.

Also found a Hugh Carol born 27 Jan 1884 at Loughgare, registration district Rosslea, Fermanagh, same parents also stated one of a set of twins born at 9am. Other twin is Mary Anne Carrol all parents and other details are the same, father still shown as a Labourer.

I have a Clones Marriage for Bernard Carolan to Mary Anne Lynch registered Oct - Dec 1878, Vol3, page 139 in the register. I suspect this is where the name change happened.

I believe this is the family in 1901 Census surname given as Carlin here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Fermanagh/Coolnamarrow/Loughgare/1361850/

1911 census here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Fermanagh/Coolnamarrow/Loughgare/513624/

Note the "loughgare" location is common to Hugh & Mary Anne Carol births and both Census.

Wow, Thank you! That information really is amazing. Mary ann carol (her name was actually carolan - the spelling doesn't really matter though) is my great great grandmother and we've been trying to find more information about her. What is the website you got this information off and especially the time!

BMD info from: http://www.rootsireland.ie/ & http://www.findmypast.co.uk/ (both are subscription sites).

Census information from the blue highlighted links.

Further to that: Dooross Townland in Aghalurcher Parish (South of Lisnaskea) is on the Parish border with Galloon Parish. Loughgare is within Coolnasilla Townland (just North of Ballagh crossroads). The two locations are only a couple of miles apart, so probable there are other family in the same area.

Marriage for Bernard Carolan to Mary Anne Lynch on 1 Nov 1878 at Newtownbutler RC Chapel. Bernards address given as Lisnaghellidy (Lisnashillida), Newtownbutler, occupation Shoemaker, age Full (over 21). Father Michael Carolan (Labourer). Mary Anne Address was Lisnaghellidy (Lisnashillida), Newtownbutler, occupation not given, age Full (over 21). Father Luke Lynch (Farmer). Witnesses were Hugh Carolan & Sarah Anne Carolan.

Best I can do, hope it's of use

I'm sure this is one of your family too: http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/fermanagh/photos/tombstones/fermanagh-drumswords-rc-2/target12.html Given the headstone location at Drumswords Church it may be worth looking for more information there. Loughgare/Loughgar Townland is mentioned.

I am also researching this family as I believe I am connected through Mary Carolan/Carlon who married James Carroll in 1904 at the Sacred Heart chapel at Clones. Mary's father was Michael butthe witness to her marriage was Francis Carolan who I suspect is the same Francis who was married to Margaret Smith/Smyth.

My maiden name is Carroll.

I would be so grateful if anyone here who is connected to this family could contact me.
