Problem with Place of Birth
« on: Saturday 02 October 04 17:49 BST (UK) »
On the 1901 census my G Grandparents John & Annie Lewis are living at the White House, Llandyssil, Montgomeryshire - RG13/5199, Folio 59, page 9.

In Annie's "Where Born" column is says Montgomery Addfa.

Can anyone tell me whereabouts Addfa is/was.  I've never heard of it.

Thank you,

Jan  :)

This is going to sound silly Jan - maybe it is, maybe it isn't!   I did a search on Addfa and it would seem to be some sort of computerspeak - something to do with the writing of programmes!

Here's a GENUKI page for Llanwyddelan

It mentions Adfa chapels..

I just knew my reply would be silly, but there you go - you learn something every day and now I know something about writing computer programmes!

The nearest sounding place that I can suggest is Llangadfan

(Since posting this message, I have found Adfa on a map. See later message below...)

The UK Villages site lists only - Adfa-Powys - which is 10.5m from the town of Montgomery.
