Hello, I'm trying to trace my gt gt grandfather, William Pritchard, who had a daughter Mary Ann (b.1864/65) and possibly a daughter Sarah.  There were connections with Aberdare and Machen.  He was a general labourer.  Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi there

Many thanks for the info on William Pritchard.  As you say, the names tally, but not the dates.  It is baffling!!.  Do you have any further info on what became of them - there might be a link.

fingers crossed, Anne

Hi Anne.  I haven't yet come across any Aberdare/Machen connections. My Pritchard
line seems to suggest all   have lived in the Abergavenny area since the early 1800 although by the 1860s some had married and moved away but not to Aberdare/Machen.

Sorry cann't be of more help but keep in touch as who knows!

Hugh

I too am looking for a William PRI[T]CHARD who was born in Cwmyoy c1790 but spent most of his life in the Grosmont area where he settled with his wife Elizabeth [COOK?] and four daughters.  He died about 1856.

His parents may have been David and Anne PRI[T]CHARD of the Black Lion and Queen's Head Inns in Cwmyoy, since his daughter, Margaret PRI[T]CHARD and her husband William BROWN have the Black Lion in the 1851 census.

Message for Hugh

Hi Hugh, since we last exchanged messages - I have a  bit more info on my William Pritchard, I believe he did marry a Sarah, and had a daugher called Sarah, also a daughter Mary b.1860 and a son David.
They are all on the 1861 Census.  On the 1871 Census William is a widower, living alone with the 3 children.

Does any of this ring a bell? and if so, what is your connection with William Pritchard, would like to see if we have any connection worth following up at all.   Thanks Hugh, regards, Anne (aka Sidonia).

Pritchard,
re original post about access to Monmouthshire parish records go to www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MON, select Church Records then select Monmouthshire Parish Record Transcriptions.

Cwmyoy is there, Llanthony unfortunately "coming soon"

regards

I am trying to find the Baptism of a William PRI[T]CHARD in Cwmyoy c 1790 whose parents I believe to be David and Anne PRI[T]CHARD.  The only on-line Baptisms I have found go back to around 1803.

Does anyone know of an older Cwmyoy Baptism record?

Here's a couple of links to Llanthony Burials 1813-1976 and Baptisms 1813-1900
