Thanks Patricia- very interesting account.

Unfortunately the period is 1942-3, a year or so later than the one I am interested in.

Thanks again anyway. Very grateful for the prompt reply.

Regards

Martin

Hi Martin

And a Warm Welcome to Rootschat  :D

Your query is most welcome as I live just around the corner, and as usual, didn't know that this was "on my doorstep" - maybe stating the obvious but if you goggle RAF Titchfield without any quotation marks there are some quite interesting sites.

If you'd like anything specific, let me know

Wendi

Thanks for this.

It is a bit difficult but my enquiry is quite specific to the manning of the station. Essentially I am looking for a particular individual and those who were on the site at the relevant time may well have the information I am looking for.

I am happy to communicate with you on a one-to-one basis if you want BUT I don't want to embarass anyone.

If you or any person on this website is or knows of a person who was there between 1940 & 1941 I would like to hear from them- in complete confidence of course.

'Nuff said I think.

Regards

Martin

Hi, does anybody have any information on a 'Violet Curtis'. She was in the RAF and stationed at RAF Titchfield. Don't really know anything else other than that.
Many thanks, George

I am reading a book "The girls who went to war" by Duncan Barrett & Nuala Calvi. It is the stories of three women serving in the military in WW2. On is named  Margery Harley and she served in the WAAF at RAF Titchfield. I was interested as I used to live at Fareham. Her home was at North Wallington.
The book is a paperback by Harper Collins should you want to read it
