Wow Elaine, would that make you & Andrew 4th cousins then? Andrew was really excited when I told him as he hasn't found any 'cousins' before... brilliant 8)

I haven't sent off for John Charles Hardy's birth certificate so I don't know his mothers maiden name.  I'm pressuming Esther is his Mum as I didn't know John Hardy had been married previously.  I would be so grateful if you could fill us in.  I can give you any information I have from John Charles to the present day.

We moved to the Isle of Wight in 1988 (small Island off the south coast of the UK). We were both born & bred in the Peak District of Derbyshire. We've been married for 22 years & have 3 daughters, Gemma (20), Lisa (17) & Elena (11).

Best wishes Vanda

Hello, I came across this post recently as I have been researching my Hardy lineage.  My great grandfather James Richard Hardy b. 1847 married to Lavinia Stevens immigrated to the U.S. from Manchester in the mid 1800s.  His father was also James Richard b. 1823 married to Mary Tonge.  His father was a John Hardy.  I was excited when I saw this post. It seemed to match up! However, as I have looked through census lists, birth and marriage certificates, the John Hardy on birth and marriage certificates for James Richard say his occupation is a hatter.  The John Hardy married to Esther say he is a laborer on the 1841 and 1851 census lists so doesn't appear they are the same person.  I posted in the Manchester section a couple of weeks ago and several people assisted with gathering information.  It looks like the possible correct John Hardy married Ann Hasleham.  His occupation is listed as a hatter.  But I cannot find a John and Ann Hardy that matches up on other lists really.  I know this post was from 11 years ago so I realize the original posters may not see it or have any additional information but would love to hear from you if you read this!! Or anyone else!!
