William Edwin Davies
« on: Friday 10 March 06 19:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I'm having trouble locating my Gt Gt Grandfather William Edwin Davies on any Census, except 1861, when he was 4 living with his Grandmather, Martha Webb in Southampton. I have William c1857 Southampton. I've found his wife Lydia, living in West Ham area, in 1891, but no William. He was a marine engineer. Now I don't know if he was aboard ship/boats at time of the Census, but I'd dearly love to locate him, he was alive in 1902, when Lydia died.

Thankyou for your time
Regards
Tracey

Hi Tanja

I have come across that one before, have written notes, how do I prove he's mine?? When I've looked into it, he's listed just as crew I think, I don't know enough about marine engineering. Is it cheeky to ask you to look for 1881 Census

Thankyou so much for looking and getting back to me

Kind Regards

Tracey

He's listed as  crew and 2nd engineer (marine, obviously  ;D). I can't prove he's yours, except that he's got the right name, right age, right birthplace, right marital status and  right or close occupation.

Sorry, I can't find him in 1881 or 1871  :-\

Tanja

Thanks so much, I was excited someone had replied, didn't read yours properly, I think he's got to be him, too much fits, and you are right 2nd engineer, must be marine engineer

Bye and Thanks

Tracey :D
