sidney and leonard gunns ?

i am trying to find a sidney .h. gunns b 1899 ish   also a leonard w.gunns b1900 ish they were born in streatham  surrey, but    wonder what ever happened to them anyone out there know of them, they were my mother in laws brothers

The only info I can find for your Sidbey & Leonard Gunns is their birth entries in the Civil Registration indexes & the 1901 census.

thanks for that info   i did already  know that , its just ive never found them  at  any other  date s  marraige    / death i know  they grew into adults i think maybe  one died in ww2.

Hello, sugarcrafter1,

I looked at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website for anything for the Gunn(s) brothers, Si(y)dney & Lionel but there is nothing for them, it would be shown even if it was a civilian death due to war.

The nearest one was a civilian death for a Leonard Gorden Gunner, age 19 ,died 04/09/1940. Walton & Weybridge Urban District.

The only way to try to find something more about them would be to trawl thro' the Civil Registration Marriage indexes.  These can be viewed online at the pay to view site www.1837onlne.com or the free view at www.Ancestry.com.    Fortunately after 1911 the names of spouses are shown so if you are lucky enough to find them you can then look thro' the birth indexes as mother's names are shown. This may seem a long job but sometimes it is the only way unless you have an address, then you can look at Electral Rolls for the district they lived in, bearing in mind that women only over the age of 30 were in the 1918 Rolls until 1928 when women over 21 were admitted.
