Alexander Anderson - Surfaceman
« on: Friday 17 March 06 07:27 GMT (UK) »
I know this thread is in the ayrshire forum but wanted to try here too.  Can someone help me with this.  I'm looking for anything on family of Alexander Anderson, (1845–1909). Poet, son of a quarrier at Kirkconnel, Dumfriesshire, became a surfaceman on the railway.  My great aunt is certain that he is a relative but her family are connected to Cumnock.  He wrote the poem, Cuddle Doon, which I think may have been about my great aunt, grandmother and their brothers and sisters.  His parents were James and Isabella from Kirkconnel.  I'm also looking for a link between James and my ggg-grandfather John Anderson, who married Elizabeth Murray.  I'm hopingn they are brothers, which would make Alexander a relation as my great aunt believes.
Can someone help?
Thanks
Sharon
