Hi All,

I have a Mary Nicholson Bpt Asby 10 Mar 1776
Her father was Anthony and mother Dorothy.
This was a big family.

Can any one tell me who Mary married Please

Hi Moira,
One child of the marriage is in the surname Dent.
Joseph Dent Bpt 1800 born Asby. Father John Dent. Husbandman, and Mary Nicholson his mother.

But I am not sure which Mary Nicholson is his mother.
I think it is the one I have mentioned from Asby but have no proof so wondered if any one knows for sure wether it is this Mary Nicholson of Asby who married my John Dent and had a son Joseph as above.

Hope you can make sense of that.

it states mother and father on all as john dent and mary nichollson apart from henry,
just says john dent and mary

all from igi index, i just put names in at random so there could be others, but at least you have her marriage now.

pps, judy i have just looked again and found a mary nichollson  ch 17/01/1794 morland, westmoreland
father henry nichollson
mother mary cumston

it fits in with the childrens names as well.

If you want to find siblings using the IGI then you click on the batch number at the bottom and when the fresh search page comes up put in the surname and parents' first names and with luck you get all the kids.  You can also alter the last number of the batch number and it may take you on to the next or previous film.  If you put M not C then you might get the marriages.   Does not always work but very useful occasionally. There is a also a site that tells you which batch numbers belong to which parish.  Look at www.genuki.com for a link.   hughwallis??  or something similar.

Thank you both very much for all the information and help. Some of which I have already from the IGI.

I also have a marriage of a John Dent and Mary Nicholson from Morland but can not prove  that it is my John & Mary Dent.

So what I really wanted to know -

was the Mary Nicholson Bpt Asby 10 March 1776 the one who in fact married John Dent in Morland or did she marry some one else.

The tip about the Batch  numbers is good as I have already got siblings from this but have never thought to alter the batch number or letter. Will try that as soon as I can get on the site again - it seems to be busy today.

hi judy, your best bet is to put a post on the board for someone who is going to  or living in westmorland and ask them to have a look in the parish records for you, or you could write to the register office there and ask where the bishops transcripts are held for that area.
