Gee, wonder why it was transcribed as BERF?...this scribbler has my keyboard for fingers! His "f" was too close to his "g"  ;D
Well, hopefully the Berg is correct...!

Tati...good call on the 10 months! It really should have said that...

Here's the actual image...Looks more like James Barss...tough one..
What was this wife's surname issue that noone gets it right?

Will take it into my drawing program and see if I can get it clearer?

So, if Arthur's first wife, Mary Ogle died May, 1905 and a child was born to second wife Mary Berg(?) Nov. 1906, Arthur remarried during that time.  9 months from Nov. is Feb, roughly.

Jessy, do you know who Arthur's parents are?  We will have to get a copy of his marriage certificate to confirm everything.

I have now made it even less clear!  Haha...but posting it anyway...
I have found Bass and Barr on the 1881 none of whom seem to have a Mary in
the home...I tried Baris Brass, etc, etc...

The name BARSS  does exist...likely a misspell of Brass...but only 2 exist on 1881 and it isn't our James...

I'm in Ontario, about an hour north of Toronto.  Next time I'm at the library I'll see if I can find the second marriage for Arthur.

What about Susan Goula, have you come across her at all in your searches?  Did Arthur have any other siblings that may have come to Canada as well?
