Alston Moor - where is it?
« on: Friday 24 March 06 06:11 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Regarding the birth of Charles Burdett BLOWE (a.k.a. Burdett Charles Blowe) in ALSTON MOOR, Cumberland c. 1809.

Can anyone tell me exactly where ALSTON MOOR is? Is it the same place as Alston in Cumberland?

Also, where are the parish records kept for births covering the years around 1809?

Many thanks for you help,
Sam

Alston Moor is the general area, Alston is the main town. The parish records are on microfilm at the Archives office in Carlisle (at the Castle).

Here are also some links to transcripts of the marriage registers:

I am not aware that the birth records are anywhere on the net.

Here is also a useful site that I would recommend for anyone searching in the Alston Moor area.
