Lyons, Kilcurrish, Fountain Cross
« on: Monday 27 March 06 15:37 BST (UK) »
I would appreciate any suggestions on locating information as to a Martin Lyons. He is said to have been born in October 1866 in Kilcurrish. It is believed he emigrated to thhe U.S.A in 1880 and returned to Ireland approximatley1900-1902. He is said to died in 1902 and is buried in Kilcurrish.
Thank you for any assitance.

Hi Maellen,
I don't know if this is any help at all:-
At the baptism of three of the children of Patrick Custy who lived at Kilcurrish, the sponsor was a Michael Lyons (that was twice in 1886, and 1890). Could he be a relation of Martin?
Don't suppose you know anything about the Custys? I am looking for info on my great-aunt, Mary McKee, who married Patrick Custy after he was widowed in 1890.
All the best,
K

Thank you for your reply. I suspect Michael Lyons is a relative. The 1855 census lists only two Lyons families. One head by Honoria Lyons and another by Patrick Lyons. My great grandfather, Martin, was born in Kilcurrish approx. 1862-1866 and emigrated to the U.S in the 1880's. He returned to Kilcurrish 1900-1901 and died in 1901 . He is buried in the cemetery at Kilcurrish. Please contact me.

Hello Sooheen,
Martin was my great grandfather. Patrick Lyons, Martin's brother, erected the tombstone for Martin at Templemaley Cemetery.  What is your connection to the Lyons family?

MICHAEL LYONS, b. 14 Mar 1872, Kilcurrish Fountain Ennis; d. May 1934, Kilcurrish Fountain Ennis, is my grandfather. I have carried out research on the family over the past 17 years and could not trace Martin or Patrick. I can provide more details however I cannot provide it using this forum, I need you to make contact with me via e mail.
I can also update on the Kennedy family and the Custy family.

I came across this by accident while doing a bit of family research. I would like to know who you two are (Sooheen and Maellen) since we seem to be distantly related.  :)

PS: I am a Lyons still living in Kilcurrish, descended from Michael Lyons b.1872
