CANTWELLs in Kilkenny late 1700s, all

Looking for any links with my ancestor, Thomas CANTWELL b 1772 Clough County Kilkenny Ireland.  May have come from a large family.  Parents names unknown.  Married Mary FARRELL.

[N.B. All our Cantwells were Coal Miners in Ireland.]

Children: Michael and James.

Michael came to Australia on the 'Parmelia' C1839 and it is known that perhaps his wife and children did not follow.

It is known that my ancestor James Cantwell was a 'white boy' - he was tried for illegally swearing oaths and transported via ship 'James Laing' in 1834.

When he completed his time, his wife Mary Cantwell nee Brennan, their children Thomas, Patrick, Mary and Bridget came to Australia on the 'Garland' in 1851.

The other family members that also followed to Australia in 1862 aboard the 'Abyssinian'.  This was her brother Michael Brennan and his wife Mary, and their 8 children: Mary, Patrick, Elizabeth, Catherine, Edward, Ellen, Margaret, Seamus and Martin Joseph, with Michael Brennan being born shortly after arrival in Australia.

No actual names but there is a large limestone effigy named Cantwell Fada in old church ruin at Kilfane, Thomastown Co Kilkenny. Fada means Long in Irish.
 Kilfane is about 3 miles from Thomastown.
Castlecomer area is the former coal mining area of Co Kilkenny. Lots of Brennans around 'Comer.
So much that most are known by nicknames eg Cloney
Do you know of any nicknames for your Brennans.

these are prison records, James Cantwell is listed but their is a Michael on the Parmelia but dated 1839 Michael was a coal miner

Michael Cantwell was the teacher/master of a school in Whitehall Paulstown which opened in 1815. School taught every day except Sundays and Holydays.  He was appointed by the inhabitants,  age 55 yrs.  He was educated in Gowran, County Kilkenny.  He taught reading, writing and arithmetic.  His income was £20 per annum, which was paid by the parents of the pupils.  His pupils in Summer 1824 were males 27, females 13, all Roman Catholic.  10 pupils previous Winter.  The school was thatched with no window. It had one table and boards for seats.  His own accommodation was one room and kitchen.
