Llanbadarn Fawr/ Melindwr

My GGG grandfather Richard Probert B. 1841-1843 Pantrhiwfelin/Tanyfelin/Melindwr. Im confused all these places are given as his place of birth on census info.
I have been unable to find Richards birth in the St catherins index.Can anyone confirm these places were in the area of Melindwr/ Llanbadarn Fawr.
The Probert family were all Blacksmiths and I have found who I believe to be Richards father  William Probert b.Kent 1811 -Blacksmith 1881 census shows living Tanrhiwfelin .
Any help would be great many thanks

Hi all
 Thought I would let you know have now found Richard's birth... a lesson learned He was christened and named William but chose to call himself Richard.. it may have been because his father was william and they where both Blacksmiths. Plus St cathe rins entery is William .and the local Registra at time  1840 entered his surname under Roberts Not Proberts...
 He was born In Tanrhiwfelin which is'nt in Melindwr it wa llanbadarn -y-Croyddin Upper.
  A BIG THANK YOU  to the Registra of Aberystwyth a real tropper.

See my post regarding 1841 census, Llafihangel y Croyddin is part of the parish of Llanbadarn Fawr.
I also agree the ladies at the Registrar's Office and the Records Office at Aberystwyth are always most helpful.

The heading is, 1841 - 51 - 61 census lookup.   It was a post you made 22 Nov 04 and is under Cardiganshire Lookup Requests.
I have only been with Rootschat about 6 months and I have been trawling through Cardiganshire posts hoping to clear up some of the backlog - especially those that received no answer.   I found your William Probert on 1841 census in Llanbadarn.
Hope it's of some use.

Hi Cardiff,

if you get the chance to look at the historical directories, they should also list your Proberts as blacksmiths. They should give you a bit of intermediary information. I have a couple for Aberystwyth at home, I'll have a look tonight see what I can find.

I find this interesting. I have an ancestor from Llanbadarn fawr which is listed on censuses as Radnorshire, Breconshire and Cardiganshire. Where was it? Really?

I always thought there was only the one Llanbadarn Fawr, the one neighbouring Aberystwyth, hence on Ceredigion (Cardiganshire).
