Hi Cardiff
Did you look at the info I posted on your Proberts in 1841 in Llanfihangel y Croyddin, Cards?   You will find it in Look Up Requests under the heading 1841-51-61 census lookup.
Hope it helps.
Cheers Dave 8)

Sorry for the delay.

I had a look at the Trades directories I have for Aber, and they do include Llanbadarn Fawr, but there is no Blacksmith named Probert.

You could always check out the historical directories site. Its worth it for the description of the towns.

Thanks for your feed back . I have now found The Probert family ..   The Proberts lived at the same address Tanrhiwfelin from 1840  on an old map I have found Tanriwfelin on the map of Capel Sieon with a Smithy. I found William Probert in Llanbadarn croyddin Upper  this is a township 4 miles south east from the parish church of Llanbadarn Fawr and 5 miles from Aber. The commercial directory gives ..
Probert, W , Blacksmith Tanrhiwfelin.
It proves if you keep looking they are out there.
Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort.
Happy hunting

I think it was your entry about Jenkins blacksmith in Abermagwr - just to let you know the smithy is still there!! I live in Abermagwr so any local knowledge needed please ask - if I dont know I'll ask someone who's lived here longer than me...

Hi shavenuw
I'm completly blown away... I never thought after all these year it would still be there ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
The last record I have of the Jenkins as Blacksmiths in Abermagwr is my gg grandmothers brother Richard Jenkins his son also named Richard was  a Blacksmith.
Do you know if there are any local photos of that area?
I have never been to Abermagwr only Aberystwyth and Llanafan where my grandfathers family come from.
I'm completly blown away. I feel a trip coming on :D :D :D :D
Any info about the village would be great
thank you so much

Just another thought, I dont know if you're using old spelling but Llanfihangel y Creuddyn is about 3 miles from Abermagwr. Good pub there does nice meals...
