Townsend Family, England to Ontario
« on: Saturday 01 April 06 18:58 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm trying to help a friend locate her family so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The info I have is:
William TOWNSEND born Dec. 1849 in Norfolk  and
Jessie KENNEDY  born in Oct. 1867 also in Norfolk were married in the Barrie region of Ontario and their first child was born in 1889.

She is hoping to find when the came to Canada, when and where they were married so she can order the certificate and where they can be located on any of the census.

Thanks for any help,
shearg

Hi shearg
This looks like them in 1901

1901 Census, Canada, Ontario, Wellington Centre, Garafraxa West - E-4, Page 4, Line 12
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/DisplayPagePanb.jsp?id=107817&highlight=12
Scroll to top - Split Screen - Select. upper 10-21, Line 12. The original shows William as born in England, Immigration 1858

I couldn't find them in 1911, it's not complete yet
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/Test4.jsp
I did however while looking for William find a John T. Townsend who was born in England, Immigration 1858 who may be William's brother
1911 Census, Canada, Ontario, Wellington North, District 11 - Garafraxa West, Page 3, Line 28
http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/1911a/e082/e002034962.pdf

This could be them in 1881
1881 Census, Canada, Ontario, Wellington Centre, Garafraxa West
Ralph Townsend        age: 63  b. England - married
Isabella Townsend    age: 62  b. England - married
Scylila Townsend      age: 39  b. England - female
John Townsend           age: 35  b. England
William Townsend     age: 32  b. England
James Townsend      age: 29  b. England
Ralph Townsend        age: 27  b. England
George Townsend      age: 15  b. Ontario

Hi J.J

Everyone

I'd been away a while and didn't realize there was another thread for the same family, different name, hence the link to the other topic. Karen had already found most of this information already, by 1911, William had moved to Saskatchewan  ;)

Hi Denise,
Yes all the info is now found but you gave when the family immigrated to Canada and that info we didn't have.

Did you get my message about your MOORE family.
