Scowcroft of Pembrokeshire
« on: Monday 03 April 06 23:18 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth M.Scowcroft born c 1823 married Robert H M Michaelson Yeates in 1841. They lived at Hendre House, Llandelloy. Her father was William Scowcroft and I believe her mother was Anne. I think Anne's father was William John. I would be grateful for any leads which would enable me to find Anne's maiden name.
Thank you.

Hi
Do you have info where elizabeth was christened?  and her marriage certificate what did her father do for a living? and do you have them on all census?
If you know where Elizabeth was christened have you thought of going to local history centre and requesting church records if all else fails.
cheers cardiff :(

Thank you both Cardiff and Welsh Lady for your replies and the information. I had not thought that John could have been a surname.

I have a family tree of the Scowcroft family of Hendre. Elizabeth's father was Wiolliam Scowcroft who married Anne John. She died at Solva in 1843.

John, Johns, Jones are the same name resulting from e.g. Evan ap John etc. The John family in the Hendre area came from a neighbouring farm, Caerwen. Incidentally my wife,s great grandmother married a michaelson Yeates after the death of her first husband.

Thank you for the information. Elizabeth Scowcroft and RHM M Yeates were my great great great grandparents. I have information on the M Yeates tree. The only information I have on the Scowcroft family is in the message I previously posted. I would therefore be grateful for any information you could let me have on the Scowcroft family which relates to my ancestry.  Spangles.

I have family one family tree of the Scowcroft family and one of the John family of Caerwen that links to your ancestor, and several that link to these two families. You need a three dimensional tree to sort out the farming families in pembs.

My wife, whom you are most likely to be related, live in West Wales. Might I suggest we meet so that we can show you what we have.

We would be very interested to see a family tree of the the Michaeson Yeates family.

Sorry, forgot to include the info you wanted.

William Scowcroft, sheriff of Haverfordwest in 1825, was a solicitor. His father was Thomas cowcroft of h'west, a merchant from Manchester. His wife was Elizabeth Jones who died 14 Sept.1832. William was one of seven children. I have the details if you are interested.

Anne John was the daughter of William John of Hendre who Married Margaret Raymond died 2nd Jan 1818 aged 566 years and buried at Llandeloy.

William,s father was henry John of Caerwen who married Lettice Nicholas.

Henry was the son of Francis John of Caerwen who married Dorothy (Possibly Perkin.

Francis's father was Henry John who married Joan. Henry's will was proved 1 June 1686.

Hope this is helpful
