Please clean up Grandpa
« on: Sunday 09 April 06 21:58 BST (UK) »
Hi

Please can you do a black and white clean up of Grandpa. I need the best quality possible as this is the only picture I have of him a a young boy. The original is very faded sepia. It is scanned at 600dpi, grayscale. You can colour it after if you like.

I have attached an adjustment I have done but I am not happy with it. If you achieve a much better one please tell me how you have done it and if you can tell, what have I done wrong with mine. This is an area I need to improve on.

I adjusted to 16 channels
Adjusted levels
Adjusted brightness/contrast
Adjusted exposure- normal/offset/gamma

Then thought I'll try the photo board!!

Thanks

Jane

Hi Jane,

Would give more detail if it was not scanned in greyscale - I know it's B/W but it still gives more detail as a colour scan!!   ;D - honest

Cheers

Hi Jane,
Further to what Keith said, many plugins will
not support grayscale only RGB mode.So it also limits our
experimenting.

Hi

Thanks for trying so far. As I said on the car photo I didn't realise about  scanning in colour so here you are.

Hi,

Difficult pic as Saddler Mike said....Its also quite small so detail is lost pretty much before
you can really get close up.
