Hi Annie and Emmeline,

Sorry, that I  stood aside and implicitly contemplaed how Keith
tortured you. :(

This is my Dad's photo. It was taken in August 1945 in Hungnam (North Korea).
The Soviet uniform was worn out (long march, combats for every town they passed - Ungi, Chongjin, Nagjin, Hamhung), that's why they (soldiers) for making photos used Japanese uniform, which was in large excess at the warehouses.

Cheers
Mike   :)

So you should be sorry Mike ... siding with Keith Bateman !!  ;) ;) ;)

How young your Dad looks ! - not much more than a boy ! - war is a terrible thing ! when all the young boys become men very quickly !! and if they are very lucky - come home !

I was reading about Russia and the Koreans - knowing you - you've probably read everything there is to read on the subject !

Anyways - it's a great photo !!

Annie  :)

Hi Annie,

Quote
How young your Dad looks ! - not much more than a boy

The photo was taken the week Dad became 19.
One month later he was wounded by a shell and lost his sight...  :(

But... this year he will be 80. And he still works - teaches history at a Marine college. :)

Cheers
Mike :)

Hello Mike - Thank you for telling us your Dad's story.
How wonderful that he is still able to teach.  No  doubt  his students learn much about life from him and the history he teaches.
