1841/51 lookup - James Partridge of Bletsoe
« on: Thursday 13 April 06 22:52 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for parents of James Partridge b 1829 Bletsoe. He married Mary Marriot in 1858, after her previous husband John Partridge died in 1856. John P & Mary married in 1848. I have both marriage certificates & John was son of George P; while James Partridge was son of Joseph P.

While I can find that George did have a son named John b 1828, I haven't found a Joseph who had a son named James b 1829.

However I have Joseph P & wife Elizabeth with son named Joseph b 1828.
George & Joseph were brothers being sons of Thomas & Elizabeth, & they had an older brother Richard who is my gt-gt-grandfather

thanks for looking John

Hi John

Congratulations on joining the aristocrats.

The only Partridges that I can see in Bletsoe are
James Partridge 25 groom not b in county living in the same house as the King family;

Charles & Catherine both 35, Daniel 12; Charles 9; Leah 7; Louizah?5; Eleanor 2. All bic

James P 24 ag lab bic living in Woods family

Thomas P 18 ag lab bic living with Hipworth family (haven't I looked this one up for yopu before?)

And finally, having missed it on first scroll through,
Church End HO107/008-02 Folio 4A
George Partridge 40 ag lab
Elizabeth 40 lace maker
Joseph 14 ag lab
John 12 ag lab
Charlotte 5
Mary 5
Isabella 2
All bic

Can't see any James of the right age in Bletsoe I'm afraid. I see that Bletsoe post 1812 is not on the IGI (nor on the BVRI). Have you checked the parish register?

Regards

David

Thanks for the congrats, David & Linda

Yes David I think we've seen a few of these before.

I have the published PR of Sharnbrook & Bletsoe, but like the IGI they only go up to 1812.  For the years between 1812 - 1837 I'll have to go the Beds Archives - easier for me than for you !.

But if I follow a hunch that James really was born Thurleigh rather than Bletsoe. as he cannot make up his mind over 4 decades of censuses (2 each !), it may be that he is the Joseph b 1828, son of Joseph & Elizabeth of Thurleigh as recorded on the IGI.

Another factor is that he could well be the James as on 1841 who was with the Woods family. Apparently this is is Henry Woods who married Mary Ann Partridge, daughter of the same Joseph & Elizabeth.

cheers John
