I am searching for information about John MacLaren who was born in 1815.  He was factor over the Rossie estates and after retirement purchased The Retreat near Perth.  His wife was Augusta Small.  He died in 1883.  Children were Isabella, Jane, James, Catherine, Augusta, Margaret, Olivia, and John.

Don't know if this will help, but if you go to Jim Small's website at:

you might find some information.  Jim Small is related to Augusta Small though her father, Peter Small.

If I remember rightly, John and Augusta were still at Millhill Farm, Longforgan in 1871.  Jim Small will be able to let you know.
