Hi Jodi 101
Yes William Munton Bullivant was my 2nd Gt Grandfather.  He was an inventor and I believe he solved getting wire rope to be flexible by using steel and hemp. Am interested in Mary (or is it Ann)Vigers his mother who married Thomas Bullivant as have no dates except possible marriage date of  1822.
Also have no dates for WM's son William Pelham Bullivant or his wife Jessie Ritchie.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Goldenbird,
The info I have is Thomas (1796-1860) married Mary Chappell Vigers(1798-1835) on 18 June 1822. I have 5 children who i think are theirs but the eldest i am questioning(born a year before marriage).
William Pelham (1858-1910) married Jessie Ritchie(1858?-1912)  March quarter 1881
Hope this helps

Wonderful. Fits perfectly. BTW the marriage date I have for WPB and JR is 23 Feb 1881. Thanks so much
Do you by any chance have any portrait/photo of Mary Chappell Vigers or Thomas Bullivant?
Thanks again

Hi again, sorry no photos.
Did you know that the other Bullivant -Vigers marriage was in 1885 and was between Rosa May Bullivant and Leslie Robert Vigers. Leslie was named as one of the executors in the will of William Munton Bullivant.
Mary Chappell Vigers and Leslie Robert's grandfather were brother and sister.

Hi again Jodi
Yes have those but thanks for providing missing middle names.

I notice that you are interested in 'Earle' of Hull. I have a George Earl (without an e ? which am checking) of Hull, married a Doris and was awarded a medal by Tsar of Russia. Most of my branches have strong links with Hull.

Ji Jody - If you were not aware it was George Vigers who was the architect who designed and built William Munton Bullivants factory on the London wharf which was eventually  taken over by British Ropes.

Hi GoldenBird,
Who were George's parents as i have 2 in my tree George (1854) son of Francis and Betsey and George Alexander (1871) son of Edward and Flora. And both seem to have engineering/architecture backgrounds.

Hi Jody 101
My deduction would be that William Muntan Bullivant's architect  would be George Vigers b 1854. The Bullivant wire rope factory started building in 1883 when WMB was 56 years old. At this time his George Vigers was "a famous architect" which implies a track record. The GV of 1854 would have been about 30 years old whereas the GV of 1871 would have been only 12 years old.  Hope this helps

hi to all in group. I am trying to establish if there was a relationship between Charles Bullivant b 22 Nov 1839 in St George the Martyr Southwark, or his father John B a chain maker, and William Muntan B, or his son William Pelham B. My GGfather Alfred James Rickard over the period of the 1881 & 1891 censuses worked as a wire netting machinist, and by 1891 had moved to just a few steps away from Bullivant's wire rope works on the Isle of Dogs. A J R was married to a Martha Treshatton, and one of her sisters, Mary Ann was maried to the above Charles Bullivant, who in 1871,'81, & '91 was a waste paper dealer, this trade being taken on by two of his sons John and Charles, one of whom still traded on the Isle of Dogs in around 1910.
