Do you have this surname on your family tree? Either born in Wiltshire or Hampshire. Recently found two family connections.
Thanks

Hi,
I know this is an old post but I have compiled quite a tree of Wiltshire Rutts, in an attempt to link them to my Rutt family from Bedford, Yorkshire and Wales. I'd gladly trade any information that I have. Feel free to contact me and discuss further.
Thanks,
Craig :)

Hi Craig

I have two different Rutt families (I think) that married into my family. George William Rutt was born at South Tidworth in 1850 and died at Chilthorne Domer, Somerset in 1904. He was headmaster of the Primary School there. His second wife was Winifred Henly 1873-1963, she was my Grandad's sister.

Herbert John Rutt born at Huish in Wiltshire 30 October 1889 and died in the Watford area was married to Edith Winifred Ashton b 1892 at Pewsey, died 1949. Edith was my Gran's sister.

Herbert Rutt's sister Ellen Rutt born Great Bedwyn in 1871 had two illegitimate children, Edith Ellen Rutt aka Beatrice Cook b Newbury, Berkshire in 1893 and Percy Andrew Rutt born at Wexcombe 5 11 1897. He was brought up by his Grandmother until she died and later sent to Canada as part of the British Home Children Scheme.

Wonder if you have either of these families in your records.

Regards Heather

Herbert John Rutt I have and I have a deal of information regarding his brother Louis Rutt, having met a man who knew a great deal about him and found where he lived and worked.
There were some oddities to his story, like the fact he knew Louis but didn't know he was a twin??
But I can try to get some order to this for you.

Herbert John's parents were Sarah Ann Shirfield and James Rutt, if it's the same family? Your Gran must have been Florence, Ethel or Elsie then?

Ok Heather, feel free to get back to me as an when you like. My aim is to try and find a link in the Rutt's from Bedford way or Yorkshire.
My name is Craig. You are not related to the Professor from Southampton University are you? He was a Rutt but I think this was his line too?
Just a thought?
Kind regards,
Craig

Craig,

Do you want to remove your mobile number, for 'security' reasons.
You can also message Heather directly, not via this board, if you want to.
