Oh, the pleasures of the 1841 continue! :)

Amongst dozens of centenarians indexed in the 1841 census by Ancestry, I wonder if any Rootschatter can claim descent from William Taplin,  at that time living in the Basingstoke Union Workhouse?

If so, they are lucky indeed, since at a stroke  it takes their tree back to c1731, since he is listed as being 110 years old. :)

This one does, at least, appear accurate, since he's sandwiched between an 81 year old and a 60 year old.  Some of the others listed in the index are the usual youngsters masquerading as their elders, under the guise of an Ancestry mistranscription!
