he emigrated to canada and then us to work for the :- farr alpaca mills
i got this info from genealogy.com  (pickup family forum), there is a relation called karen posting on there looking for contacts. kali.
KUHNELL, prussia, germany, australia. TAYLOR, easton in gordano, penmark, essex. barry, glamorgan. HILL, southampton, barry, glamorgan.

now it seems we are getting somewhere diane,
it seems that he went to the u.s. through canada possibly not even stopping there,
mary jane b 1840 and married jeremiah pickup in w springfield, hampden, m.a.
she died 30-7-1915 in holyoke m.a.

thanks for all the info.  I'm actually in touch with the Karen you mention.  We are trying to prove we have the same Jeremiah so that we cam connect our family trees.  I have a feeling I have Jeremiah in the 1870 census in Ontario as head of the family, but am at work at present, so will check when I get home.  Thanks again Diane

i have just found Jeremiah in the 1860 census in Tenessee as Jerry Pickup with his brother George! so maybe he moved from UK to Us and then to Canada and then back to Us

Wow, he sure did get around.  If he was single then that narrows down his marriage to a 5 year search which is great.

would it be possible to find how he went from usa to canada, this`woud be between 1860 and 1865?
