Hi Karen
Thanks for that information.
Albert born 1915,died 1973 was my father,I don't remember him,he left England in 1945 when I was 6 months old.
My first email explains that I found his parents and brothers and sisters in the 1911 census.I have never seen a photo of him, thats why I was hoping to find a member of his family,to see if they had any.
Anyway I will keep looking.
Your Gr-Grandfather looks very dapper in his uniform.

Thanks Maralyn, kindof like you, he left his family (after he changed our last name) and no one knew him, after about 30 years searching we finally found out what happened to him, so it can be done with patience (plus the internet can cut the time down considerabley, my dad started in 1969) and hopefully you will get a picture.

You have the year of death for him, did you get a death certificate?  What about an obituary?  Did he die in Quebec?

What about writing a letter to the Editor in the Verdun newspaper, maybe there is family there that may read it?

Karen

Hi Maralyn
Here is another site that you may get some help,
http://www.rootsweb.com/~canqc/
I knew that civil registration in Quebec was later than the rest of Canada but didn't realize how much later, according to this site
http://simmons.b2b2c.ca/attach1.htm
Quote
Prior to January 1, 1994, there was no full civil registration of births, marriages or burials in Quebec such as we see elsewhere in North America.

Wow Maralyn, that's amazing.  Were they able to give you a picture of your father?
