1841-61 look up please!!
« on: Sunday 30 April 06 09:27 BST (UK) »
My elusive g.g.grandmother has me stumped, any fresh eyes on this would be much appreciated!!
I have;
Hannah James born Llangeler, Carms.
She married 25th March 1867 in Merthyr district to Nicholas Morgan (widower) and was living at Trecynon, Aberdare at the time.
She was a spinster and her father is (on marriage cert) David James occ; cordwainer.
I have her from 1871 onwards, but not before.
Ther's a possible as servant in Merthyr on 1861, but not sure.
I have looked on 1841 and found a Hannah, with Father David who is a shoemaker in parish of Cilmaenllwd, but cant find this family further on.

Any ideas most welcome. I will be on and off here all day.

Hiya the Hannah youve found is the only match in 1841 with a Father David.

1841 Cilymaenllwyd
David James/40/Anne James/40/William James/10/John James/7/Hannah James/4/.

In 1851 Hannahs age 14 in service House Servant Cilymaenllyd.

In 1851 heres her parents  at Penralltfach,Cilymaenllwyd
David James/Head/55?/Shoemaker/Llanboidy/Anne James/54/Lampiter ,Pembrokeshire(

In 1861 birthplace is Llan__?,Pembrokeshire/
Phebe James/30/Dau/Cilymaenllwyd/Daniel James/Son/8/Cilymaenllwyd/Mary James/Gdau/3/Cilymaenllwyd.

And think this is the marriage in Llanboidy on 19/08/1820 David James Cobbler to Anne Phillip.

Best Wishes Welsh Lady

Hi Welshlady,
That's the family I've been chasing!!
Think I needed someone else to confirm it for me. The David James you found is the only shoemaker I've come across which is why I followed him and the family.
Thank you so much for your time, Jane.
P.s...thank you also for marriage of David and Anne!!

Hi!  I believe the David James who married Ann is son of Evan James and Hannah (Morgan) James.  The David Morgan who is a shoemaker in Cilymaenllwyd is brother-in-law to Evan James (husband of Hannah James) if we are talking about the same person.  Anyway, this is what I know:

1841 Cilymaenllwyd, Plasybarlo:  Evan James - head, Hannah James (maiden name Morgan) - wife and David Morgan - brother-in-law to Evan James.  Hannah and David are brother and sister and grew up in Cilymaenllwyd.  I don't know anything about David Morgan's children and would like to.  Evan James and Hannah live in the same place with David Morgan I believe in the 1851 census.  On one of those census' there is a David James with a wife Ann, Daughter Hannah, etc. living in the same house as Evan, Hannah and David.  I believe that is Evan and Hannah's son.  Please let me know what you think.  I am related to them through Hannah (Morgan) James' father who is my GGGGG Grandfather.

Looking forward to hearing from you, Lea (maiden name Morgan)

ems girl,

I think you're probably my 5th cousin or so!  I'd sure like to compare notes!  We might be able to fill in some details for each other.  I have a copy of the will giving plasybarlo to Elizabeth and then Hannah James.  My ggg uncle came from Penrallt Fach and Llanboidy.  I live in the States but was over there a couple of weeks ago for the first time to do Family History Research.  I hope to hear from you soon.  Lea

Hi.  I'm very disappointed to say that I misspoke.  I got a David mixed up with a Thomas James who is the son of Evan James and Hannah James in Cilymaenllwyd and who have David Morgan, shoemaker, living with them (brother to Hannah James).  Thomas James was the one who married Ann.  So I was wrong.  I'll post this online too so that I don't mess any one up in the future.  Sorry that we're not 5th cousins.  Our ancestors would have been neighbors, but that may be all.
