Hi,

I can see a William b.1862 Mordiford in 1891 married to Louisa living in Mordiford, and in 1901 still with Louisa and family but in Tarrington. (transcribed as POFFERLL ??? but reads as Caffull).

We have William Caffull a carpenter born 1842/3
who is surely the son of William on the 1851 Census also a carpenter, following into the family trade ?

Is this is the William who married Florence in 1899 at Ocle Pychard then he was 57 and she was 19..... ! :o

Are we looking at a second marriage here ?

I think it is a different William :-\ , I can see William CAFFELL b.1842/3 Woolhope on the 1881/1891 & 1901 census married to a Susan living in Ashperton.

Hi again,
Thanks to you all for your help in trying to solve my mystery, its given me a few leads to go on. It is my partners side of the family we are tracing ( my side has been relatively easy ) but i enjoy a good mystery and am determined to crack it!
Today we have been out looking round church yards for graves, we went to Grosmont, Madley, Woolhope, and Mordiford but found none of the names we have so far found!! another blank!!
We have also managed to contact a family member (about the last remaining one who could possibly give us information) He hasn't been able to help that much, but did say that he's sure William and Florence did get married at Ocle Pychard and that he is sure there were relatives in that area ( Bromyard/ withington). So at least i know know that Florence on the 1901 cencus is the right one ( i was beginning to wonder). He has tried to delve into the family history all be it half heartedly, and found it a right tangled webb so gave up, and says older family members he asked in the past ( now all gone) we reluctant to talk about the past, I'm intrigued to know why. I'm going to try and get hold of Florence and Williams marriage certificate, does anyone know if the GRO ref no would be the district name/volume and page ie Bromyard 6a 1135 as its cheaper with the GRO no.
Once again thanks to you all, i am so grateful and if anyone manages to find anything else i will keep checking on here and will let you know how my search progresses

Hi, just to let you know thanks to all your help we have had some success, we sent for Florence and Williams marriage certificate which has shown that Florence's father was william williams, her mothers maiden name was Thompson so maybe she was born out of wedlock! i have found her under the name of Florence williams and she was born at Grosmont, so at last we are getting somewhere. We are coming up against a load of brick walls though this family is full of mystery and alot of children born to different fathers it seems!!!! i have a few more query's but will ask them on a new topic. Once again thanks for all your help.
