Hi,

I'm sure you realise that both Cairns and Daisley are Irish names.

I looked on the 1881 census for you and there are many Cairns listed in Linlithgow but no Mary Ellen which means she was probably born after that date.

All the Daisleys in 1881 were born in Ireland.

The best thing you can do is go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and find Mary and Hugh's marriage certificate. The date of their marriage is right there on the birth cert. This will give you both their parents names and you can start to go backwards from there.

Good luck
Elaine

Elaine thanks for your reply i have found Mary Ellen and Hugh
and most of the family. I just wondered why Mary Ellen went to Linlithgow  to have my Mum when her address was in Falkirk.
Also to find out if any Cairns still live there. Thanks again.
Would also help if i had spelled it correctly. lol

You're welcome. I'm glad you found them. Love that name - Daisley!
