Harry Blackmore and family Exeter
« on: Tuesday 02 May 06 19:19 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone

Trying to locate any researchers with connections with Harry Blackmore b. 1904 in Silverton, Devon.

He was a football player and signed for Exeter in 1925, moved to Bury, then Bolton Wanderers (helping to win them the FA cup in 1929) amd then back to Exeter in 1935.

His father was also called Harry and he was born 1863 in Bradninch, Devon.

This is my fathers side of the family and I am struggling as, I have no family members down there with info.

It would be really good to get contact with someone from the same family line.   Actually, it would be fantastic!!   ;D

Hoping to hear from anyone with connections.
Regards

Pam

I'm not sure what it is exactly that you wish to find but your Harry Blackmore certainly put in a lot of appearences, mainly for Bolton.

Just out of general interest, there was a football who named Clayton Blackmore who was a full-back for; Manchester United, Midlesbrough, Bristol City, Barnsley, Nott's County, Rushden & Diamonds, Leigh RMI, Casleton Gabriels and Bangor City, his career started in 1983. Could he be related?

Hi

I am trying to find info on my Blackmore family.  I have 2 lines, one in Devon and one in Lancashire.  Seeing Harry played football for the place where he was brought up near was, worth a mention.

The info I have after 1901 is only on Harry and I have no idea who he married or any children he may have had.  He had at least 7 siblings for whom I have no info as to marriages etc.

The footballer you mentioned maybe a rel but I have no info to support that as yet.  Interesting though, Harry also played for Middlesbrough.

So you see, I just need a miracle!!  ;D

Thanks for trying Paul, but that won't give me anything more than what I already know, that he was born Silverton, mothers name Emily nee Ware.

This seems more like a fairminded and simple question but did the 1901 census bring you any joy?

Hi Paul

The 1901 gave me children I knew nothing of and occupation of Harry the father etc.  Also that they had moved from Bradninch to Silverton within that year as Wilfred, who was then the youngest was just 5 mths old and born Bradninch. Harold of course had not been born till 1904.  I will need to send for some more cert.'s as I think Ellen their eldest was born before her parents married.  I haven't got their marriage date so this may just pin point it for me.  Then I will have Harry's fathers name andmove on that also.

It's wierd really, you would think I would be content with what I have, but no, I need to track down Harold's family and see if any are contactable?  They may have the info I want and know more rellies!!
