Family farms in Cardiganshire

Hi:  I am looking for John Evans, my ancestor born about 1781.  I am fairly certain he died on 25 Jan 1841 in Tyndner, Blaenpenal, Cardiganshire, Wales.  No will.   He was the father of my great granfather, William Evans and I have lots of census records, will and marriage records for William but am having problems getting any further back than John as the name is so common.  What type of records are there for family farms?  It is believed William was born on the family farm, Twynder in Blaenpenal which is fairly close in spelling to the above. Any help would be appreciated.      Jackie
