Paterson emigrated Canada 1918
« on: Friday 05 May 06 22:17 BST (UK) »
My ancestors William Johnson Paterson and his wife Esther Weal Wylie Paterson emigrated around 1918 to Manitoba from Motherwell, Scotland.   They then had two sons.

Having looked through many canadian websites some of which found on Rootschat unfortunately nothing helps for around 1918.  I have tried checking immigration for Canada and USA but still nothing.

Obviously most of the canadian websites are good for information prior to 1918 so I am a little stuck.

If anyone can offer any advice or direction I would grately appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi, Louise! Welcome to rootshat!

Yes, it gets harder to find information as the last available census is 1911..
The BMD - birth information for Man. has to be more than 100 years ago,
marriages more than 80 years and deaths more than 70 years...
http://web2.gov.mb.ca/cca/vital/Query.php
The site has a glitch and may work the first time, then you have to shut down the program and try again...( don't ask me why ....I have reported the problem so hopefully they get on it...)
There are directories for Manitoba, but they won't show more than heads of household or occupations of those out in the workforce.

Where did they live in Manitoba?   J.J.
