Morecambe Bay, crossing sands c.1750

G'day,  ...    I suspect that some of my ancestors  came across the sands to Bolton le Sands and Hest Bank  from Furness.    I cannot get any historical fact about transport across the sands in  1700s and 1800s.    Any ideas?    Thanks,  bbriann

Hello bbrian,

People still do walks accross Morcambe Bay always with a "Guide" and usually for charity.  I have seen lots of people walk from Grange Over Sands to Hest Bankat low tide.
