I believe my family are related to the skerratts (poss scarratts) on my fathers side
My father tells me that a relative of my grandfather Thomas Truman called Chidley Homer (Chedorlaomer) Scarratt or Skerratt emigrated to the US at the turn of the century. Certainly I can find a Homer Skerratt on the ellis island database
My GGgrandMother was I think Sarah Ann Truman (nee Scarratt)
Regards
Dave Truman

Dave,

Thank you for replying to the Skerratt family posting.   Ann Skerratt is my GG grandmother, she married Thomas CARTLIDGE when she was 34 and he was a widower aged 63! My Great grandfather  also a Thomas migrated to  Victoria, Australia  in the late 1880's.  Do you have any information about Sarah Truman (Scarratt)

Hello, I'm the great granddaughter of Chedorlaomer Scarratt ( sometimes seen as 'Chidley A' in the census) and wife Maria. My grandmother was Mary Scarratt who married Robert Spencer. Mary had a sister, Sarah Ann. I've been trying to find Chedorlaomers resting place/date of death but no joy. Maybe because he did emigrate?? But he was present at my grandparents marriage in 1897.

Name:   Robert Spencer
Birth Date:   1875
Age:   22
Spouse's Name:   Mary Scarratt
Spouse's Birth Date:   1878
Spouse's Age:   19
Event Date:   28 Nov 1897
Event Place:   St Paul, Burslem, Stafford, England
Father's Name:   William Spencer
Spouse's Father's Name:   Chedorlaomer Scarratt

Thank you,
Jeannie :)

Hi, have only just joined and seen your post.  My maternal line also were the Skerratt's from Wolstanton.

My 3 x great grandfather was Thomas Skerratt born circa 1800-1810 but married Elizabeth Cartledge on 3rd October 1832 at Wolstanton.  They had three children that I've found:
William (my descendant) born 1833
Levi born 1835
Henry born 1837

Not sure if this helps you but the Skerratts were a large boating family who are well documented on this website:  http://www.boatfamilies.website/getperson.php?personID=I26525&tree=CanalFamily1

It may give you further information if you've not found it already.

Kind regards
