Hi Carol80
From 1881 Census at Familysearch there is a Thomas and Emily Stonehouse living in Whitby West, Ontario South, Ontario
Thos. B. Stonehouse age 28, b. England, Ethnic origin English
Emily Stonehouse, age 30, b. Ontario, Ethnic origin German
Maybe this Thomas, is your Thomas??, Elizabeth's brother. Couldn't find an Ann Stonehouse in 1881 Whitby, maybe she used another name on the census?
I'm off to the Archives this week (hubby has time off work) can check this marriage for you if Karen doesn't find it first  ;D
