The Cardiff Record Office Re: the Ely Children’s home records

Children's home records which contain details of individual children are closed to the public for 100 years, due to data protection considerations. If you are searching for a relative, and can prove using certificates that you are related to this person and that this person has died, we may be able to give you access to the records. However, if the records are arranged in such a way that would involve you searching through records of other children in order to find the entry about your own relative, then we would need to undertake the search on your behalf, for a fee of £15 per hour. If you can email or telephone with more details, we can advise on the best way to proceed. The records of Ely Children's Home are kept in an outstore collections are done on a Monday, so advance notice is needed to put in an order for them.
