Spares in Cornwall
« on: Saturday 27 May 06 18:27 BST (UK) »
Hi

My first time on the Cornwall board - I'm looking for Spares! Anyone with any Spare connections?

Spares are concentrated in Cornwall and Warwickshire/Leicestershire - I'm guessing they may have been tin miners who moved to the mines in the Midlands.

My Spare line is currently stuck in Warwickshire as I cannot find the birth entry in the IGI for my gr gr grandfather William Spare who was born in Baddesley Warwickshire in 1817. So I can't find his parents but I keep getting Cornish connections - he and his wife Anne were in Cornwall for the 1851 census  - she states somewhere that she was born in Dudson in Cornwall (although she gives other birth places in other census)  - and his son Thomas marries a girl called Sarah Sweet - born in the midlands but where does the name Sweet concentrate other than the midlands - Cornwall. Can anyone cast any light on the possible migration of this name?

Thanks
