I have a Bridget M Duhigg from that area marrying James Creed 28th Jan 1864 Bruff.
They had a daughter mary 26 Dec 1864, unfortunately James died before she was born.
Bridget went on to marry Michael Costello and they emigrated to America in 1882

Hi jc26red,

Thanks for replying. I need to make some enquiries to see whether there is a connection to the family I am investigating.I believe some Duhig's went to America and Australia so will certainly advise of the outcome should it be a postive one.

Kind regards....Karma

I have just started tracing my family (Carroll from Limerick).
My Great great Grandmother Mary Duhig married James Murphy.
Their daughter Mary was born 23rd June 1878 and died in Kilmallock on 3rd December 1910 - 6 days after giving birth to my Grandmother.

I would be very interested in any further info.

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for replying.

I have to admit that at the moment I only have the basic information and am struggling to know where to look next. I don't know the birth places of either James Murphy or Mary Duhig.

Do you know how common the name Duhig is?

I live in London and am hoping to be able to visit the Church of Latter Day Saints to view the 1901 & 1911 censuses.

If you are going to the Hyde Park LDS center, they also have the IRISH BMDs! which would be very helpful to you.

ok...
I have Bridget Duhig marriying James Creed. His Mother, Mary Bol(e)man's sister, married a Murphy from Fermoy. They ran an Inn over there, can't remember the name off-hand.  It is about 15 years ealier than you are looking at. c 1861-3
I know Murphy is a common name but there could be links as many did seem to marry close to family.

I'm not in Ireland either, it makes research a little difficult.

Hi Mary,

Your info is very interesting. It certainly looks like they could be "my" family although my G Grandmother Mary is not mentioned - she was born later than the children you mention but could certainly be a younger sister.

Where did you get this information from ?

Are you related in any way ?

I would love to know more

Regards

J
