BIRMINGHAM SPARROWS in MY TREE
« on: Friday 22 October 04 08:13 BST (UK) »
Apologies for resurrecting this one yet again. Just a final try to see if it does raise any spark of recognition in someone's mind.

It is the Children or Descendants that I seek, not the Ancestors

I am trying to trace the Family of SPARROW that once lived at Great Lister Street, Birmingham. They had relatives at Cradley, Staffs

They were bombed during the blitz WW2 and Reginald William Sparrow the Father was killed.

Mother was Elsie, born 1903, now deceased.

Children all born in the 1920-30’s era
Dorothy
Joyce
Brian
Leslie
Betty

Any knowledge of this family, or individuals, would be appreciated.

Robert

Not a solitary reply since I first posted this. Just thought I might bring it back into the light for a while.

Hi Robert,
There is a birth for Reginald William Sparrow. Sept Q 1902 Kings Norton 6c-433

If you send for it you can find out who his parents are.

Hi Indi

Thank you for that piece of information, which will prove useful.

However my intent is actually to try and trace any descendants, as we have completely lost trace of the family, who are my wife's cousins.

Thanks again for looking though.

Regards
Robert

Hi Robert,

This may sound really stupid, but have you looked in any recent phonebooks from Birmingham for a Brian Sparrow, not sure if Leslie is a boy or girl. Or perhaps Brian Sparrow had a son to carry on the name.

I just checked www.192.com and there are two (2) B Sparrow listed.

From my own research, we had last been in touch with family in Birmingham in the late 50's. A few weeks ago, someone looked in the phonebook for me and gave me a number, I called and it was the person. I just rec'd an email with all kinds of family pictures yesterday.

Good Luck
Karen
Gandley (but known as Stanley in Canada)- Ireland to Birmingham
Ball, Kempson & Franklin - Birmingham
Shorter - Surrey
Dyer - Devon
Dawkins - Co. Cork, Ireland
Heffernan - Ireland
Huck - Alsace, France
Reinhart - Baden, Germany
Bowman & Ellis - England
Etheridge - Gloucestershire

Who all came to Canada in a little row boat, clap clap, clap your hands!!

Hi Karen

Not stupid at all.

This is something we tried a long time back and finished up ringing numerous Sparrows, none of who turned out to be related.
We even wrote to a couple that were ex directory but never received a reply.

Of course all the names that I mention may be dead, even the youngest would be well into their sixties.

We also have a feeling that any remaining children may have moved to other parts of the country and of course without knowing where it leaves a very wide area to search.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway.

Kind regards
Robert
