Hi Monica
Found a little more information about my Grandfather James Wilson (Renfrewshire Paisley) from purchasing an Extract of entry in the 1939 National Register for Scotland.

Address - Wester Hillhead, Avonbridge.  DOB  - 11 August 1872.   Married (poultry farmer retired)

How do I use this info to find his Birth certificate?     I have searched already but without success.
Hazelnuts

Like you likely, I have tried searching for James' birth on the index here https://familysearch.org/search as you can see parent(s)' names and also check date of birth. Can't see anything that matches a birth date of 11 August 1872 +/- a couple of years  :-\ Tried Wilson and Gil*n.
